After several months of life's more trying moments it was nice to return to the small woodland behind my house. To spend some time immersing myself in nature and rebalancing what is important for one's well being.
Sitting in a quiet spot I managed to capture this young Roe stag making his way across the forest clearing. This year there has been a changing of the guard, the older more mature deer have moved on and we have a new crop of young roes and a pair of stags. I have not seen any young so far this early summer, this could be the reason, but in the next few months we will find out for sure.
Dad is still around, he always looks impressive with his strong eyebrows, beautiful coat, and that steely stare he possesses. If you take a quick look at the "Capture Moments" page you will see his off-spring enjoying themselves deep in the undergrowth. Mum has been quite elusive so far this Spring/Summer but she has popped up several times on the trail camera. So all is going well so far this season.
As the warmer nights and evenings grow longer the Badgers have become a lot more active and on the move. I was lucky enough to get a few nice spots of this badger sow cleaning her den and searching for grubs in the old leaf litter. Most of the time you have to be super quiet as their hearing is very sharp.
Finally, not forgetting the new grass, field flowers and all the small and amazing insects, beetles, lizards, snakes, and mince that make up the tiny side of life. This little spider was hanging out to dry as the morning sun lifted higher into the sky. Or maybe it was waiting for its breakfast.
Make time in your life to embrace nature and enjoy all that it offers throughout the seasons. You will feel much better for it, I guarantee. Until next time...
